Just Spirulina

Description
Vision
Spirulina is the richest whole food source nature has to offer and is widely recognized by all international agencies dealing with malnutrition but it is still too complicated to grow and too expensive to consume for those who need it for their survival. This is where JustSpirulina comes in, with a growing protocol that is cheap, simple and scientifically sound.
Activity
Students at Hertzliya Hebrew Gymnasium in Tel Aviv have taken upon themselves to make change in the world by challenging world-wide malnutrition. They are doing it with a unique growing method of Spirulina and a novel dispersion method through schools and students.
The objectives of the program are :
- Reaching as many people as possible by fostering ties with more schools and teaching them how to grow, consume and teach Spirulina.
- Create an international chain of food and solidarity by each group passing this knowledge to yet other groups.
- Supporting this chain by giving schools the backing they need with their government bodies (departments of education, municipalities, etc.) and by creating a technical support center at school in Tel Aviv.
The main guidelines in the running of the program :
-
The center at school will expand to include a small scale commercial Spirulina pool (income for sustaining the project) and a multilingual technical support center for projects abroad.
-
Strengthen ties with FAO (publishing a book with our growing manual and spreading it to all FAO representatives in the world), Weitzmann Institute Of Science (continued joint research), and local NGO's and government bodies in the locations we teach Spirulina.
-
Aim at 3-5 locations a year, each location consisting of 5-8 schools/orphanages.
-
A local employee will provide assistance after training, as well as oversee the implementation, dispersion and maintenance of professional ties with JustSpirulina center.
