The Euro-Mediterranean Institute for Inter-Civilization Dialog (EMID) proposes to promote cultural and religious dialogue between Mediterranean civilisations ; to establish a network of specialists in inter-Mediterranean dialogue ; to encourage Euro-Mediterranean creativity ; to encourage exchange between Mediterranean societies ; to work to achieve Mediterranean conviviality ; to advise charitable organisations working around the Mediterranean and provide the support necessary to achieve their original projects.
Matanel Scholars in Residence
Five annual grants of 15,000 USD each are planned for candidates wishing to focus their research on a Mediterranean theme. The following are eligible:
- university teachers and researchers on sabbatical;
- religious, intellectual and spiritual leaders;
- political leaders.
Candidates must speak English, spend at least 3 months in Israel in the spring and take part in EMID activities. They must also prepare the results of their research or study for publication on the EMID website. Matanel Scholars will receive the opportunity to become EMID representatives at their place of residence and be linked in the network of militants for Mediterranean dialogue and conviviality.
